About Me

What's my deal and how do I know so much?

I’m Scott Feldstein. I’m not a guitar tech nor am I a professional musician. I’m just a guy. I have played bass guitar for most of the last forty years, though. For a lot of that time I had no idea how to do a proper, methodical setup. But a series of events began in the spring of 2018 that set me on a path to learning how to do this stuff the right way. I scoured the internet. I watched countless YouTube videos. I consulted the smart people over at TalkBass.com. I acquired tools and began doing setups on my own instruments. I even bought cheap instruments online so I could do setups on them and flip them locally.

Look, this isn’t rocket surgery. You don’t need a master’s degree or twenty years of experience to do this stuff. You just need the right information and the right tools.

And so I learned. I’m still learning. But I made this site to share the basics with you. These pages contain the best advice I have found on doing setups. If you think I’ve gotten something wrong, please contact me. I would love to make these instructions even better.
